Welcome to Emory

Emory, Texas is a progressive, growing area with the atmosphere of a friendly hometown.  Emory, the county seat, is positioned in the center of Rains County at the intersection of U.S. Highway 69 and Texas State Highway 19 between Lake Tawakoni and Lake Fork.  Check out our local newspaper, The Rains County Leader.

Emory Profile

Emory is within 25 miles of two major interstate highways, I-20 to the south and I-30 to the north.  We are only 64 miles east of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and 50 miles north of Tyler.  This unique location makes Emory an excellent hub for distribution to East Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana.  Rains County is the 20th Fastest growing county in the United States and the 4th fastest growing county in Texas.

Emory offers a quality country lifestyle with affordable housing and reasonable land values.  A outstanding school system and low crime rate make Emory a positive place to raise children. Nestled in the Post Oak woodlands of northeast Texas, Emory is only ten minutes from Lake Fork to the east and Lake Tawakoni to the west.  Lake Fork is a world-renowned trophy bass lake producing 14 out of the 25 of the Lunker bass (over13 lbs.) caught in the past two years.  Lake Tawakoni is the Catfish Capital of Texas and continues to produce year round recreational opportunities. Your business and your family will find that Emory is the place where recreation and quality of life go hand-in-hand with a thriving business community.

Some of our annual events include Eagle Fest, Founder's Day, County fair and Christmas on the Square.
